Chinese clothes make a successful comeback!
Han
Chinese clothes: It is the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644. A typical set of Chinese clothes (www.goodorient.com) can consist of two or three layers. The first layer of clothing is mostly the zhongyi which is typically the inner garment much like a Western T-shirt and pants. The next layer is the main layer of clothing which is mostly closed at the front. There can be an optional third layer which is often an overcoat called a zhaoshan which is open at the front. More complicated sets of
Chinese clothes can have many more layers.
Apart from
Chinese clothing, there are also other
Asian Dresses like
Japanese Clothes, Malaysian Sarong and Vietnamese Ao-Dai.
Japanese Clothes: Also called kimono in Japanese, it is a Japanese traditional garment worn by men, women and children. Kimono is T-shaped, straight-lined robes worn so that the hem falls to the ankle, with attached collars and long, wide sleeves.
Malaysian Sarong: It is a large tube or length of fabric, often wrapped around the waist and worn by men and women throughout Malaysia. The fabric most often has woven plaid or checkered patterns, or may be brightly colored by means of batik or ikat dyeing. Many modern sarongs also have printed designs, often depicting animals or plants.
Vietnamese Ao-Dai: It is a Vietnamese national costume, now most commonly for women. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over pantaloons. The Ao Dai is now standard for weddings, for celebrating Tết and for other formal occasions.
If you prefer DIY, we can provide you a selection of
fashion fabrics, such as silk, brocade, batik and so on.
Silk: It was first developed in ancient China and produced by moth caterpillars. Silk's absorbency makes it comfortable to wear in warm weather and while active. It is often used for clothing such as shirts, ties, blouses, formal dresses, high fashion clothes, lingerie, pyjamas, robes, dress suits, sun dresses and Eastern folk costumes.
Brocade: It is a class of richly decorative shuttle-woven fabrics, often made in colored silks and with or without gold and silver threads. Brocade fabrics are used in modern times mostly for upholstery and draperies. They are also used for evening and formal clothing.
Batik: It is a cloth that is traditionally made using a manual wax-resist dyeing technique. In Indonesia, batik popularity has had its tidings. Historically, it was essential for ceremonial costumes and it was worn as part of a kebaya dress, which was commonly worn every day.
