Mi Le Fo(Happy Buddha) Dough Figurine Featured

Dough modeling, also called "dough figure", is mainly made of sticky rice flour and painted with various colors. Firstly, the artisan nips, rubs, kneads, and pulls the dough in his hand. Then the artisan cleverly uses little bamboo knife to point, slice, carve, cut the dough in order to shape the body, hand, hair, face, and wearing of the figurine. In a short time, the vivid and lifelike figurine comes in to view.

Mi Le Fo, Maitreya is a bodhisattva who in the Buddhist tradition is to appear on Earth, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach the pure dharma. According to scriptures, Maitreya will be a successor of the historic Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The prophecy of the arrival of Maitreya is found in the canonical literature of all Buddhist sects and is accepted by most Buddhists as a statement about an actual event that will take place in the distant future.
