The Doppa, a square or round skullcap originating in the Caucasus and worn by Kazan Tatars, Uzbeks and Uyghurs, is a Muslim skullcap, similar to the Jewish kippah. The doppa is derived from a Turkic, more pointed, ancestral cap, which can be seen in some of the portraits of Jalaleddin Mingburnu. It is possible that the doppa influenced the development of the kippa when Jewish communities interacted with Muslim Turks in Central Asia
